The Jharkhand police today recovered 11 powerful landmines hidden by suspected maoist ultras in a dried up well in Kewal village during a search operation.Police said the landmines, each weighing 20 kg, were hidden in the well near Rabda hills by suspected maoist extremists for use during future operations against the police parties.
No arrest was made so far. Police registered a case and investigations were on.

The ultras killed 12 securitymen, including two DSP rank officials, last week in the Kunda area of the district through a powerful pressure bomb blast.

In the extremism-affected state, landmines are frequently used by the ultras for their anti-establishment operations.
