2 women Naxals surrender

SAMBALPUR: Inducted into Maoist group through false assurances, two women cadres of Deogarh surrendered before Sambalpur police today.

Identified as Scholestica Minz alias Sujata (24) of Mendhiakani village under Deogarh police limits and Rashmita Naik alias Kabita (19) of Jadagola village under Reamal in Deogarh district took the opportunity provided by Sambalpur police to surrender.

The police aim to help the willing cadres return to the mainstream.

Laying down their rifle and five rounds of ball ammunition before IG (NR) Surendra Panwar, District Collector L N Nayak and Sambalpur SP Sanjay Kumar in the presence of mediapersons, the girls said they were lured into the banned ultra outfit.

While Scholestica, who completed her matriculation was promised higher education in Jharkhand, Rashmita, who is a Class IV pass-out was assured a job.

The two girls contacted the Officer-in- Charge of Sadar police station Manas Garnaik and got in touch with Kumar who paved way for their surrender.

Kumar outlined the rehabilitation package.
