Top MNC under scanner after seizure of wireless sets from Naxals

R Krishna Das / Raipur January 23, 2008

A leading multinational manufacturer of sound and wireless radio communications has come under the scanner of security agencies after Chhattisgarh police recovered the biggest-ever haul of arms and wireless sets in the state capital last night.

Besides 91 countrymade pistols, 26 wireless sets, an equal number of batteries and 22 batteries of small wireless sets were seized.

The sets and batteries carry the trademark of a leading multinational company that manufactures car electronics, communication equipment and home electronics.

“It is illegal to sell wireless sets without licence and approval from the home ministry,” a senior police official told Business Standard. Only a detailed probe would reveal how the Naxalites procured so many wireless sets, he said.
