Maoist call for a bandh from today

RAYAGADA: The CPI (Maoist) Bansadhara Divisional Committee has called for a bandh on December 5 and 6 in Rayagada, Gajapati and Khandhamal districts to protest the killing of one and injuring another in a firing by the SOG and CRPF personnel in Gajapati district.

In a letter written in Oriya and signed by Bansadhara Divisional Committee secretary Ajad, they have alleged that the SOG and CRPF killed one and injured another in Kuttliganda village under Panigonda panchayat under Adaba police limits of Gajapati district on November 23 during combing operation.

The two were innocent adivasis in search of lost cows, the letter said. They also demanded a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the dead and Rs 5 lakh for the injured.

The deceased has been identified as Junnesu Raita and the injured is Bodo Raita. Four cows also died during the operation.
