GUMLA (JHARKHAND): A local resistance group bore the brunt of Maoist reprisal on Saturday when two of its members in Anjan village were shot dead
by Naxals who ransacked the homes of two others, including that of the group's chief. Vijay Nayak and Charku Nayak were members of Shanti Sena, formed by villagers in Gumla district of Jharkhand with police help to oppose the Maoists.
Police said about 40 to 50 uniformed Maoists cadres arrived in the village, about 16 km from Gumla town, at 6 am. They shot dead Vijay and Charku when the two were on their way home from a nearby field.
They also ransacked the houses of village Shanti Sena chief Satyanarayan Thakur and another Sena member Rampyare. The Maoists also set a motorcycle on fire.
Shanti Sena was set up in Anjan village three years ago with the support of police. Some sena members were also given guns to fight the Maoists who had made the village their den.

I may sound a bit innocent but i felt that this could be a solution?
Victory over the big N
(A personal hypothesis)
There is no connection between the Indian voter class and the class that forms the back bone of the naxal infested areas (a potentially juicy and crucial vote bank).
The Naxals as a enemy are strong and consist of a group of people disposed and having noting to loose and everything to gain, in order to help them to grow it is necessary to adopt a process where the leader of this movement at the very grassroots is some one who has come from within who is in a position of power in that society the real key to victory in this war is not to attack the top but to make a huge difference in the middle level carder and the grassroots level carder of the movement.
The real reason for the spread of naxalism is the lack of a compulsive reason for the naxal peasant population to come into the main stream also a degree of machismo and robin hoodesque may also be involved, rather than seeing this as a disadvantage any political party that has got a very strong grass roots network or is able to penetrate into those areas where other party’s have not been able to penetrate will make huge Electoral successes, the key to success is to get the local population to see the locals to see the political party as a true savior which has and defiantly will make a positive impact on their lifestyle and also their income levels to do so this political part will have to set up grass roots cottage industry ( going back to the gram udyog of pre independence) and a sort of proxy legal parallel government to combat the naxals.
Note The industries bit is very important because this is the key local self help for setting up of infrastructure and raising income levels is the only way that a political party can,
1. free people from the groups of the Naxals
2. Contribute positively to their vote bank and make a strong hold of a area
3. Free up areas for further development braking up the vicious Naxal cycle
In the end though a form of revolution has taken place if such a plan is implemented and the political landscape of India may have changed due to this!
