Arms factory of naxalites destroyed in Chhattisgarh

An arms factory being run by Naxalites was destroyed by security personnel in Narayanpur district of Chhattisgarh on Saturday (January 24), police officials said. Several arms and ammunitions were also seized from the factory premises in the deep jungles, they said.

IG, Bastar, A N Upadhya said that a joint police team comprising CRPF, STF and state police personnel were on a search operation when they sensed some suspected activities near Palebeda village in the dense forests. As they approached the area, extremists started indiscriminate firing on them and fled the scene after security personnel retaliated, he said.

When security personnel reached the village and carried out search operation, they stumbled across an arms factory of the extremists, he said. Police have seized a leth machine-meant for molding iron, a generator, 20 grenades and 10 gun barrels, Upadhya said. Security personnel have begun search operation in the nearby areas to nab the Naxalites, he said.
