Muzaffarpur (Bihar), Jan 22 (PTI) An encounter took place between naxalites and the police here today after the latter raided a village following inputs that unspecified number of ultras were assembled there.
The police raided Chaturpatti village under Paroo police station after receiving specific information that naxalites in unspecified numbers had assembled there, Superintendent of Police Sudhanshu Kumar told PTI.

Naxalites fired at the police team from some houses in the village to which the police retaliated, Kumar, who rushed there with reinforcements from the district headquarters, said.

"The police have cordoned off the village and intermittent firing is on," he said, adding there was no report of any casualty so far.

Reinforcements have been rushed to the scene of encounter from adjoining police stations, he said.
