Faced with charges of seeking Naxal help to win polls, Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren cries foul, pins blame on the opposition. Shibu Soren has found himself on the wrong side of the law on more than one ocassion. With the by-polls slated in the Tamar Assembly constituency, Soren seems to have courted trouble yet again.
This time reports are rife of the Chief Minister allegedly seeking the Maoists help to emerge victorious. According to a People’s Liberation Front of India militant, who was arrested, the terrorist outfit has been distributing posters and letters for the last one week threatening the voters with dire consequences if they would not vote for the chief minister.
Carlos, the arrested PLFI Maoist said, “I have read about Shibu Soren only in the newspapers that he is the Chief Minister.”
On his part, Soren has refuted all allegations pinning the blame on the powerhungry opposition. He said, “I don’t want to listen to what he said, as I don’t believe him.”
However, the opposition vehemently claims that Soren is to be blamed for attempting to rig the polls. Arjun Munda, former Jharkhan CM said, “The JMM does not want free and fair elections. And, now they have resorted to this to terrorize voters from voting so that rigging can be easily executed.”
But whether these latest allegations affect Soren’s fate in the by-polls only time will tell. Until then the JMM chief will be hoping that like he has done in the past, that he will wheather the storm and emerge victorious.
