J'khand police,Army Intelligence interrogate arrested Naxal

Jalandhar , Jan 8 A team of Jharkhand police and officers of Army Intelligence today jointly interrogated a senior Maoist activists arrested in Punjab early this week.

"A 13-member team of Jharkhand police of today arrived in the city and interrogated Jai Prakash alias Anupam, a senior Maoist recently arrested from Phillaur area, along with a team of Army Intelligence", Pawan Kumar Rai, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) told PTI.

Since the accused was involved in as many as 25 cases including of murders and attack on police personnel, Jharkhand police was informed about his arrest.

Jai Prakash along with some of his supporters was living in Punjab for the last one and half year in an attempt to revive naxalite movement in the state, the SSP said.

During interrogation, it came to light that Jai Prakash joined the naxalite movement in 1994 as cadre of Maoist Community Centre (MCC), which later merged with Communist Party of India (Maoist, sources said.

In the year 1998, Jai Prakash, who originally hails from Baldevari village of Jharkhand, got his arm training at Jhamra Pahar area of the state. N 2001 he was appointed as" Zonal Commander:"of Northern Chhota Nagpur area of Jharkhand and was involved in active naxalite activities.

In the year 2005, the accused came in contact with Pramod Mishra, member of the central committee of the banned party, who later assigned him the task to strengthen party&aposs activities in Punjab and introduced him to one Manveer, State Secretary of the party in Punjab, sources said.
