Naxal attack: Mines min meets home min, Nalco, CISF brass

New Delhi, Apr 13 In the aftermath of Maiost attack at state-run Nalco&aposs Damanjodi mines, its parent ministry today reviewed security arrangements at the aluminium producer&aposs premises and said it would take immediate steps to prevent such acts in future.

"The Ministry of Mines has conducted a detailed review of security arrangements at Nalco&aposs Damanjodi mines. It has been decided to implement a number of immediate measures for the security of explosives and other sensitive substances (at) its premises,"an official statement said.

Mines Secretary Santa Sheela Nair convened the meeting of officials from the ministry of mines, Nalco, home ministry and CISF, which is responsible for security of the PSUs mine area, the statement said, adding the ministry will also be holding follow up meetings with the state government.

At least 11 CISF jawans and four Maoists were killed in a gunfight triggered by a daring pre-poll attack by the ultras on a well-guarded armoury and the Damanjodi bauxite mine of Nalco in Orissa&aposs Koraput district.
