Naxalite killed in police encounter in Chhattisgarh

Raipur (PTI): A naxalite was killed on Thursday in an exchange of fire in Narayanpur district of Chhattisgarh, police said.

The incident took place in the Kodenar jungle area after fire was opened on a police patrol party, by the naxals, DIG (Naxal) Pavan Dev told PTI.

Three tiffin bombs, a hand grenade, a detonator and a pistol was recovered from the spot, Narayanpur SP Amresh Kumar said.

The body of the deceased naxalite, who was killed in retaliatory fire has also been recovered, Mr. Kumar said adding further investigations are on.

Meanwhile, security has beefed up in the state in view of the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
