Dhanbad (PTI): The police claimed to have foiled a Maoist attempt to carry out disruptive operations in Dhanbad district during the forthcoming polls with the recovery of huge quantity of explosive materials.
Superintendent of police Manoj Kaushik said a huge quantity of explosive material, sufficient to manufacture 200 bombs, was seized from a bomb-manufacturing unit which was unearthed during a police raid at Virajpur village on Wednesday.
The police unearthed the unit during a raid in the house of Ambuj Pandey, a homeguard personnel and Ranjit Pandey, a post master, he said.
Both the brothers were not in the house when the police team raided the unit, adjacent to the house.
In a separate raid, the police also arrested two hard core Maoists, Sita Ram Majhi and Babu Lal Mahto, from Kotaladda village in the district, which is considered to be a naxal-stronghold.
Both the members admitted their involvement in a SLR snatching case in Katras colliery area ten days ago.
