In Jharkhand, a major disaster was averted when security forces recovered seven powerful wired Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), fitted by Naxalites in Khunti district, barely a few days ahead of the Parliamentary poll in the area.
Deputy Superintendent of Police A.K. Roy said the inter-connected IEDs were planted near a canal on Salgadih-Baridih path in the district. He said while one IED weighed a massive 60 kg, the other six were of 20 kg each and all connected with a 200 metre wire.
