Raipur , June 21 The CRPF toll in a naxal triggered blast in Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh has risen to eleven, a senior police officer said.

Eleven CRPF personnel died and an equal number sustained serious injuries when the truck, which was bringing them back to Tonagapal from a patrolling exercise, was blown up at Kokanara village, nearly 375 kms from here, by the naxals yesterday, Director General of Police Vishwa Ranjan told PTI.

On a tip-off that the militants had burnt down a truck near the village where a road is under-construction, a 53-member joint police- CRPF team -- on two trucks and a jeep -- patrolled the area.

On way back, they were attacked by the naxals, who blew up one of the trucks and exchanged fire with the personnel, the DGP said.

The SP along with other police officials rushed to the site after getting information about the attack, he said adding the injured have been admitted to a hospital in Jagdalpur.
