BHUBANESWAR: Worried over increasing law and order situation owing to Maoist violence and communal riots in otherwise peaceful Orissa, Union Home Minister P Chidambaram is scheduled to make a two-day visit to the state beginning June 25, official sources said today.

Orissa, hit by last year's ethno-communal riots in Kandhamal which claimed as many as 43 lives, drew attention of the Union Home Ministry after being faced with a series of Maoist attacks in recent times.

"During his two day-stay here Chidambaram will visit both Kandhamal and Koraput," a home department official said adding that, Chidambaram would review the situation in both places.

Though Malkangiri was identified as the worst Maoist infested district in the state, neighbouring Koraput had been in news for a series of Maoist attacks.
