Enforce CPI (Maoist) ban with iron fist

Category » Your Voice Posted On Thursday, June 25, 2009

CPM Secretary Prakash Karat's view on the Centre's ban on CPI (Maoist) about the talk of political solutions to the Naxalite menace on the face of slaughter of thousands of innocent citizens does not wash.

That the Central and state Governments have been doing their best in alleviating the poverty, restoring justice system and improving the standard of living as best as possible under the existing constraints cannot be denied. This is evident from the improved standards of living all over. However the benefit of development takes time to permeate. Country side of major states have been controlled by the rampaging red terror CPI (Maoist) thugs for past several years killing thousands of innocent citizens on grounds of administered neglect, poverty and backwardness is unacceptable. Naxalite trouble makers have been thriving on loot, arson, extortion and destruction and conspiracy. It is the bounden duty of the Government to protect the life and property of the citizens even as the VIPs and VVIPs all over the country are protected by gun trotting security personnel. The Government's decision on banning the CPI (Maoist) is not only justified but should be enforced with iron fist as a first priority.
