MAHARASTRA: Umranikar named DG of Anti-Naxal Operations

Mumbai: Jayant Umranikar has been appointed as the director general of Anti-Naxal Operations. This was announced by home minister Jayant Patil in the Legislative assembly while speaking during the budgetary demands of Home Department.
Patil said Umranikar was an experienced police officer who had served in various capacities at the Central Government level. "His experience will count while tackling Naxal menace," he said.
Umranikar belongs to the 1973 batch of IPS and was presently posted as Additional DG (Training). Patil has announced earlier that the Anti-Naxal operation headquarters will be moved from Nagpur to Gadchiroli.
