VARANASI: How Maoist ultras were taking shelter in cities and joining different institutions was exposed on Sunday when the Lohta police succeeded
in arresting Rampraye alias Sonu who had fled with a motorcycle from Madauli area recently.

According to SO Lohta, Manoj Singh, a medical practitioner Madhulika Singh reported recently that one of the employees of her clinic, Sonu, had escaped with a motorcycle and Rs 800. When the police started investigating the matter, it came to light that Sonu had mentioned a fake residential address in the staff register of the clinic. He had also switched off his mobile phone.

But, the police succeeded in getting his international mobile equipment identity (IMEI) number. With the help of the same, they succeeded in contacting one of in-laws of Sonu, who revealed his address. It came to light that Sonu was a native of Maoist-affected area of Chhattisgarh. He also had connections with Maoist groups. For safe shelter, he used to stay in different cities and escape after committing petty crime.

Singh said Sonu had informed his employer that he wanted a job as he was being terrorised by Maoist at his native place. But, after sometime, he fled with a motorcycle. The police caught him from Churamanpur area when he had visited the locality on Sunday to arrange for the documents of the stolen vehicle
