ONGOLE: The Prakasam police reportedly have in their custody, a feared Maoist leader, John Babu, who also carries a reward of Rs 3 lakh on his head.

John Babu, who hails from Tripurantakam village in Prakasam district, was once the secretary of the ‘Nallamala Forest Atavi Division Committee’ of the Maoists, which was subsequently closed after the Maoists decided to shun all committees some time ago.

While Markapur OSD Satyanarayana denied arresting him, sources told Express that John was indeed arrested and that he was in police custody.

John Babu, until three months ago, was allegedly moving about in the Palutla and Nekkanti village areas regrouping the Maoists but was not heard of in the last two months.
