Maoists exchange fire with police in Jharkhand

Khunti (Jharkhand) (PTI): Police and Maoists on Saturday exchanged fire near Rania in Khunti district, a day after the naxalites gunned down 11 security personnel in the state.

Though unconfirmed reports said two policemen were injured in the gunfire at Bindukel, two kms from Rania, Deputy Commissioner Puja Singhal said all the police personnel were safe.

The state has seen a sudden spurt in naxal violence with 22 police personnel being kiled in the last three days - 11 on Thursday in West Singhbhum district and 11 on Friday in Bokaro district of Jharkhand.
