Security meet at Tenughat

OUR CORRESPONDENT
Bokaro, June 24: Barely two weeks after twin Naxalite attacks killed 11 policemen in Bermo and Nawadih, a high-level meeting was held for the first time in Tenughat — a rebel stronghold — to boost the sagging morale of the men in uniform.

The meeting was attended by senior police officers, including IG of North Chhotanagpur commissionerate K.S. Meena, DIG (coalbelt) Prashant Singh, Bokaro SP Laxman Singh, and officers in charge of all police stations falling in this zone. Sources said the meeting was convened at the direction of DGP Vishnu Dayal Ram.

At the closed-door meeting, the IG reportedly expressed displeasure with the police’s failure to prevent the recent Maoist attacks. He said that had the police cultivated intelligence contacts in a better way, the tragedy would have been averted.

Besides, the security personnel were asked to avoid straight paths while travelling in Maoist zones.

and to cross farmland and forests after taking into account the geographical location.
