CPI(M) activist’s house ransacked by Maoists

KOLKATA: Armed Maoists on Saturday night ransacked the house of a CPI(Marxist) activist at Nimal village in Salboni near Lalgrah, belying the administration’s claim that the Maoists had been driven out of the naxal hotspot and its surrounding areas.

Nearly 10 Maoists entered the house of Sudarshan Das, police said. “They came, threw away all utensils, set my house on fire and beat me because I failed to reveal the whereabouts of my son,” Sudarshan’s father Rakhhari Das said.

The latest attack and last Friday’s gunning down of two CPI(M) members at a village near Lalgarh have given sleepless nights to the administration even as the joint forces claimed to have gained control over most of Lalgarh and its surrounding areas. — PTI
