CPM faction in league with Maoists?

;Statesman news Service
JALPAIGURI, 29 JULY: The DYFI Jalpaiguri district secretary, Mr Arindam Chakraborty, today alleged that the Mahadeb Mukharjee faction of the CPI- ML had truck with the Maoists.

Addressing the media today, the CPI-M youth leader said that the circumstantial evidence pointed to Maoist “complicity” in the attack on the DYFI and other political activists of the CPI-M at Takimari yesterday.
"The police have arrested three people so far in connection with the incident and one of those is a resident of Kolkata. This strengthens our assumption that the particular CPI-ML faction is operating in cohorts with the extremists,” said Mr Chakraborty.

He added: “The Naxalites always say that they do not support the killing of innocent people but what they did yesterday didn't back up their statement. The reactionary powers are uniting to wreak vengeance on the progress the state has been making under the stewardship of the Left Front government. But they cannot deflect us from our resolve. We will keep fighting them politically,” the DYFI leader affirmed. He further said that both the DYFI and SFI would mobilise public opinion against the challenge coming in a concerted form from the extremists and the Maoists. “Apart from street corner meetings, we would organise a convention at Takimari village on 31 July likely to be addressed by the state leadership,” Mr Chakraborty said.

Meanwhile, the Jalpaiguri SP Mr Anand Kumar said that they had arrested four people, including a woman, so far in connection with yesterday's incident. “We are continuing our investigation, but as yet we have not found anything to connect yesterday's incident with the Maoists. The violence does not appear pre-meditated,” said the police official.
