DYFI leader killed, two others injured during Naxalite-bandh

Siliguri: Naxalites today killed a youth wing leader of the CPI(M) and injured two others in Jalpaiguri district while trying to enforce a bandh called in memory of their founder Charu Majumder.

Armed naxalites tried to forcibly close a tea stall owned by DYFI leader Ananda Das at Mantadari village, about 30 km from here leading his friends Sudhansu Mandal and Ratan Das to rush to his rescue as also the local people, Jalpaiguri Superintendent of Police A Kumar said.

The naxalites fired at Das from a close range and stabbed his friends before escaping.

Das was declared brought dead in hospital. His friends were admitted to a nursing home, Kumar said.
