Govt nod for Rs 7,300-cr highways pro in Naxal affected areas

New Delhi, July 7 The Government has approved a scheme for development of highways in Naxal affected areas of eight states at a total cost of Rs 7,300 crore, Lok Sabha was informed today.

"The Government has approved a scheme for development of 1,202.44 km of National Highways and 4,363.45 km of State Highways in the Naxal affected areas of eight states, including Orissa, at an estimated cost of Rs 7,300 crore," Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways R P N Singh said in a written reply in Lok Sabha.

The eight states are Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Orissa.
