KOLKATA: Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operative Mohammad Umer Madani, who reportedly confessed to liaising with Maoists, was brought to the city late on
Tuesday.

Madani was arrested by the special cell of Delhi Police on June 22. Kolkata Police had asked for his custody to probe whether he had any links with Maoists operating in the state. He will be produced in Bankshall court on Wednesday.

According to police sources, the 50-year-old Madani gathered detailed information about the methods and training techniques of Naxalites during visits to Ranchi, Bokaro and Dhanbad.

It was later found that he was to meet some Naxal leaders. "The diary we seized from him contained details about the leaders and their training methods and training centres where he was to recruit them," a senior police officer had said.
