Maoists trigger landmine blast at community hall

Purulia (WB), Jul 14 Maoists triggered a powerful landmine blast at a community hall at Berada village, 55 km from here today, causing heavy damage to the building.

Superintendent of police Rajesh Yadav said that the blast caused considerable damage to the community hall, but there was no casualty as the building was vacant.

Fire-fighters rushed in to fight the blaze in a portion of the building after the blast that took place around 5.30 am

The attackers left some posters threatening to carry on its activities in the region.

"Our operation against police torture at Lalgarh will continue,"a poster said.

The police have launched a combing operation for the Maoists.

Meanwhile, police officials of West Bengal and Jharkhand held a high-level meeting at the SP&aposs office here today to chalk out strategies to flush out the Maoists from the district as well as from the region.

The SP said that, IGP (western range) Kuldip Singh was present at the meeting with DIG ( Bokaro- Koilanchal) Prasant Singh, IGP (Bokaro) K S Meena, SP (Bokaro) L P Singh and SP (Ramgarh) A V Onkar.
