Maoists kill ex-CPM member in front of family

National leader and former CPI(M) panchayat member, Banguram Haldar was gunned down by allegedly by Maoists in Bhaduria jungle in West Midnapore in West Bengal. His family members say that he was taken to the nearby jungles by 15 Maoists in Bhaduri late last night (November 18-19), and gunned down in cold blood in front of family members.

The incident comes on the back of several brutal Maoist strikes at workers and members of the ruling CPM government in the Naxal bastion.

Suspected Maoists abducted five CPM leaders from Lalgeria in Jhargram late last Sunday, of whom police suspected two were killed. Police suspect Maoists have shot dead former CPM panchayat pradhan, Anil Mahato at Bhutashole in Salboni as also another of the five who went missing - Khudiram Mudi, a member of Makikpara gram panchayat.
