Naxals kill forest officer

Raipur, Nov 28 (PTI) A forest officer was killed by Naxals at village Inda, about 200 km from here, close to the Orissa border, police said today.

Deputy Ranger in the forest department Maik Tandi had gone to the village which falls under Devbhog police station on receiving reports that some people were illegally cutting wood in the forest.

However, he was picked up by the Naxals immediately after he reached the village and was killed, Superintendent of Police at Raipur Amit Kumar said.

He said the police came to know about Tandi's death after some villagers spotted the body today.

He said a police party has been sent to the village and investigations are on.
