One Naxal killed, eight others arrested in Chhattisgarh

Raipur, Nov 16 (PTI) Stepping up their offensive against the Naxalites, the Chhattisgarh police have killed a left-wing extremist and arrested eight others.

The Naxalite was killed in Markanar village of Kanker district yesterday in an encounter, Superintendent of Police Ajay Yadav said, adding Naxal literature was recovered from the spot.

In another incident, police arrested eight Naxalites from Gadamalli forests in Bijapur district.

The arrested Maoists had allegedly torched five trucks engaged in development work in the district, Superintendent of Police Avinash Mohanty said.
