Ghandy to be produced at court in Chintapalli

VISAKHAPATNAM: One of the top leaders of CPI (Maoist), Kobad Ghandy, will be produced in the First Class Magistrate’s Court at Chintapalli in the Visakha Agency area on Wednesday in connection with a case of conspiracy filed after the exchange of fire near Gunukurayi in the Visakha Agency area on May 28, 2008.

A constable and four Maoists were killed in that incident. According to information available here, Mr. Ghandy, member of the Maoist party’s politburo who was arrested in New Delhi on September 21, has been listed as one of the accused in the case registered at the G.K. Veedhi police station. Though he was not present during the incident, he was included in the case as an activist with a common objective. He is presently lodged in the Cherlapally Central Jail.
