Joint anti-Maoist operation soon: Naveen

Bhubaneswar, Feb 9 (PTI) Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today said plans for a joint anti-Maoist operation will be prepared soon after arrival of Central Para Military Force (CPMF).

Optimistic of getting the required CPMF soon, he said, "Then plans will be made. And, of course, we have to combat Maoists."

He said Union Home Minister P Chidambaram has promised to send 8,000 more CPMF personnel for the joint operations. While 3,000 personnel would be deployed in western and northern parts of the state, the rest would be stationed in the southern region.

"While Maoists believe in force and are not ready to shun violence, we will have to face them with force," Patnaik told reporters after returning from Kolkata where he attended a meeting of chief minister of eastern states convened by Chidambaram to fine tune the offensive against Maoists.
