Maharashtra unveils plan for Naxal areas

MUMBAI: In order to combat the Naxalite menace, the Maharashtra Government has created a separate Police Range at Aheri in the Naxal-infeseted Gadchiroli district.
While addressing the Joint Session of the Maharashtra Assembly marking the beginning of the Budget session here on Thursday, Maharashtra Governor K.Sankaranarayanan said 23,55 new posts in different ranks have been created. The government has also announced financial incentives to persons supporting the administration and police personnel serving in the Naxal areas. Additionally, a special developmental package, which focuses on creating new opportunities for livelihood, education, pre-recruitment training for employment in Police and Forest Departments, and also to improve health and administrative systems for Gadchiroli distirct has been approved , the Governor said.
