Gaya, Mar 16 (PTI) An engineer of a private construction firm was briefly abducted by a breakaway faction of naxalites in Gaya district of Bihar, police said today.

Heavily-armed personnel of the Revolutionary Communist Centre (RCC), a breakaway faction of the proscribed CPI (Maoists), raided the office of the private road construction firm, burnt a machine and kidnapped the engineer, Sudip Ghosh, from Banahi village late last night, Superintendent of Police Sushil Khopade told PTI.

The engineer was released in Sherghati forest this morning, he said.

The RCC's action, he said, was a part of its intimidation plan to collect levy from the owner of the firm.

Raids were being carried out in the area to arrest the RCC activists, Khopade said.
