Suspected naxal killed in encounter

Udupi: one suspected naxal and two others including a policeman were injured here in a clash between a group of Maoists and security forces in the district, said the police.

Police had launched a search operation in the area following a clue with regard to the movement of a naxal group. The Police stated that during the operation, a suspected naxal opened fire at Padigaru in Karakala taluk, after which the police retaliated. In the spree of exchanging fire, one suspected naxal was killed and the other injured was arrested, they added.

Both the injured have been admitted to the hospital and the police are continuing with their search operations.
