Nearly a week after the deadly massacre of 76 CRPF men by Maoists in Chhattisgarh, police in another naxal-affected state, Jharkhand are being imparted special training.

The special arms-training exercise was found necessary in the wake of the Dantewada massacre and was imparted to the cops to enable them to counter attacks by Maoist forces.

Officers in charge of 131 police stations located in Maoist-infested areas of Jharkhand are being trained with state-of-the-art weaponry. They are also being trained to anlayse intelligence inputs during the training.

Vinay Shukla said,"After yesterday's session, the officers are being taught how to use weapons which are generally used in the field like AK-47s, INSAS and their personal weapons, like revolvers and pistols."

The training program is being conducted at the BARIATU firing range in Ranchi city.

The training of security agencies in specialised weapons has become even more important after it was revealed that the 2 Maoist companies which conducted the Dantewada massacre were carrying Light Machine Guns (LMGs), which are mostly used by US Marines.
