Maoist Leader "Azad" killed in Encounter in Andhra Pradesh

Hyderabad: Breaking News! In a major breakthrough in the fight against the naxal menace, Maoist leader "Azad" alias Cherkuri Rajkumar was killed in a police encounter in Adilabad district of Andhra Pradesh.

Another Maoist leader Chanderan was also reportedly killed in the encounter. Azad was a Core Committee Member of the Maoists. He was also a key spokesperson for them. Azad carried a cash reward of Rs 12 lakh on his head.

One AK-47 and a pistol were recovered from the encounter spot. Azad was active in Andhra Pradesh, Orissa and Jharkhand and organized many naxal attacks in the past. His death came as a big blow to the Maoists.
