Maoists kill another 'police informer'

MUNCHINGPUT (VISAKHAPATNAM): Maoists struck again in three days by killing a tribal on the charge that he was a police informer. About 50 armed rebels came to Bhalluguda in Munchingput mandal in Vizag Agency on Friday night and dragged a tribal, Killo Manikyalu, 37, from his house. They took him to a nearby school building and killed him.

The red guerrillas left a letter alleging that it was Manikyalu who directed the police parties into the village last year. However, police officials said the slain tribal was never in touch with them.

The Maoists killed a former militia member Killo Mohana Rao at Jamiguda in Busiputtu panchayat two days ago and beat up two tribals. So far, the Naxals have killed nine persons, including ZP vice-chairman Ugrangi Somalingam and G K Veedhi vice-mandal praja parishad president Sagina Somalingam this year. A majority of them were axed to death.

It may be recalled that Bhalluguda was in the headlines last year when four tribal women were allegedly raped by the cops. The offenders were later chased away by the villagers. Though the charges against the cops have not been proved, the Maoists hold the special party cops responsible for the incident.
