Police recovered a 'tiffin bomb' and live cartridges after a gun battle with Naxalites in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district, police said on Wednesday.
A joint team of police and District Reserve Guard (DRG) that was on a search operation in Gumori region was ambushed by the Maoists, a police press release said.
The joint police team retaliated in self-defence and after a brief gunfight the armed Naxalites escaped into the jungles, it said.
While carrying out a search operation at the encounter site, police recovered a 'tiffin bomb', codex wire, 10 live cartridges, Naxalite uniform, literature and other materials of general use including medicines.
Police also spotted some blood marks, indicating some Naxalites were seriously hit or may have died, the press release said
