Cases dropped against Naxal sympathisers

NALGONDA: “No man will be a criminal by birth, it is only the circumstances which make him incline towards committing crimes,” Superintendent of Police Mahesh M. Bhagawath felt.

The SP participated in a ‘Parivartana Sadassu’ held at Kondamallepalli village in Devarakonda mandal on Sunday. He handed over ‘liberty certificates’ to 71 Naxal sympathisers, freeing them from cases registered against them. He also made the villagers take an oath not to assist the Maoists.

Speaking on the occasion, he said there were 26 cases against 175 Naxal supporters in the district. Of them, 71 people have been relieved of the cases, during the first phase, as per the government directions.

The SP felt that many villagers assisted the Naxalites only due to fear rather than sympathy and support.
