4 Maoists die in blast

Hyderabad : Four CPI (Maoist) naxalites died in freak blast in Warangal district even as Visakhapatnam police unearthed a huge dump of weapons and explosives on Thursday.


Four Maoists, including Chityala squad commander Ramakanth died in a blast at Amudalapalli of bhupalapalli mandal. The naxalites were apparently taking shelter in a hut when the blast occurred. While the identity of one naxalite could not be established, the remaining two were identified as squad members Naresh and Odela Bhaskar.

The blast could have occurred when the Naxalites were assembling land mines. The impact was so high that the dismembered body parts were strewn in a radius of about 50 metres. Police seized three kit bags, two carbines and a country made pistol.

In Visakhapatnam district, special police parties unearthed 60 kg gelatin sticks and a Thompson sub-machine gun from a dump in Puttakota forest area of GK Veedhi mandal. They also recovered 53 rounds of ammunition, four magazines, olive green uniform and some extremist literature from the dump.

Meanwhile, greyhounds personnel accompanied by surrendered rocket launcher case kingpin Tech Madhu and his wife, began scanning Nallamala forest for the Naxal dumps.

In Hyderabad CPI (Maoist) Rachakonda area secretary G Mahesh alias Subash surrendered before police.
