Ten naxals surrender


Warangal (AP), Aug. 27 (PTI): Ten naxalites, including, five women, today surrendered before the police in Warangal district of Andhra Pradesh.

The extremist belonging to different groups surrendered before the district SP Soumya Mishra.

Maoist Khammam district Charla Local Guerilla Squad commander M Punnam, who carried a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head, surrendred alongwith his wife E Kavitha, a deputy commander of Vezedu dalam in Khammam district, Mishra told reporters here.

Punnam was in the Maoist party for the last seven years and also worked in Jorugonda in Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee (DKSZC) of Bastar region in Chhattisgharh, she said.

Another naxal L Vasantha, who was active in Badegaon area in Chhattisgarh and carried a reward of Rs 20,000 on her head, also surrendered, Mishra said.

She also distributed Rs 60,000 as immediate relief for five surrendered naxalites.
