Operation Godavari: Maoist in Orissa Urges people to resist Suppression

Report by Deba Prasad Dash; Malkangiri: With the State and central Government seems determined to launch a massive joint operation against the Maoist rebels in the district soon after the Jharknhand assembly election is over, the red rebels have come up with posters against the alleged fake encounters and atrocity on innocent people in the district.

The Peoples Guerrilla Army (PGA) was renamed as Peoples Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA)formed in 2004 when the C.P.I(Maoist) took birth after the merger of both CPI(ML) Peoples War Group and Maoist Communist Centre of India(MCCI) . Sighted in the many villages in the district,the posters printed in Oriya arrest of has urged the people to resist the ongoing suppression by the state and central government in the name of “Operation Godavari”.In hundreds of posters,banners and leaflets , C.P.I(Maoist) Malkangiri Division Committee has demanded the unconditional release of all the arrested tribals .

This apart,the Maoist posters has urged the people to resist the ongoing combing operation & attack by the Cobra,Grey Hounds,SOG and other commandos. The Maoist rebels in their posters have also appealed the people to join the people’s war to ensure their right on land,forest and water. The Maoist poster has also asked the people to protect the natural resources of the country and resist the multi national companies (MNCs).In another development, the rebels have sought the cooperation of the people to make the “PLGA week celebration beginning from December 02 . Posters reportedly sighted in Kalimela,Bhejangiwada,M.V-79, Motu,Chitrakonda, Govindpalli and other interior pockets of the district have urged the youth to join the militia.The reports coming from the bordering Motu,Chitrakonda and Podia areas reveals that rebels are moving from one village to the other to mobilize the youth to join Peoples Liberation Guerrilla Army(PLGA) and proposed “Operation Godavari”.

Meetings are being reportedly conducted by the Maoists in their strongholds of Kalimela,Podia during the recent days to garner support for the PLGA week celebration.If an information received by this website is to be relied,the strength of the PLGA has touched around ten thousand during the recent months.

On the other hand,police has also initiated measures to avert any Maoist sponsored incident during the celebration. The police seems ready to counter the rebels during the week long celebration. The armed and civil police has been kept on high alert in the sensitive areas of the district to avert possible Maoist attack during this period.Police has also reportedly strengthened it’s intelligence network ahead of the PLGA week.With only four days left for the celebration, both the Police and red rebels seems busy in finalizing the counter measures against each other.
