Three killed, six hurt in Naxal blast

RANCHI/JAMSHEDPUR: Three people were killed and six injured when an IED exploded at Aamjhor village in Jharkhand’s East Singhbhum district on the Police said the three people were killed while removing road blockades, which were placed by the Maoists to stop movement of security personnel.

The bandh has been called by the Maoists demanding release of their leader, Ashok Mahato, who was arrested on October 23.

In a separate incident, the Maoists triggered a series of blasts and damaged five government schools in Palamu district. All the five schools were selected by the district administration to set up polling booths and cluster points.

Palamu SP Jatin Naruwal said security forces have launched a massive combing operation in Hariharganj area. The Maoists also damaged railway tracks between Dania and Jageshwar stations under the Dhanbad division by triggering a blast, disrupting train traffic.
